ZEROING
We expect all shooters to be able to hit the target and complete their sight adjustments within a FEW ! sighting rounds.
Zeroing at Longmoor / Ash shoots will be limited to the first 1/2hr only between 0930 and 1000 and then we will start the first course of fire, there may be opportunities to zero at other distances but don't bank on it (this is practical rifle shooting after all !)
Similarly the 1,000 yds shoots on Stickledown would run a lot quicker if shooters arrive knowing their 1,000 yard zero and require only a few rounds to confirm and check windage.
No-one wants to see any shooter waste ammunition by not hitting the target and so we allow a reasonable amount of zeroing time, however please be respectful to all club members and remember the following:
-
Arrive at the range with a zeroed rifle and known sight settings for all distances - this is a primary safety requirement !
-
No 'plinking' - knocking the centre out of a Fig.11 at 100yds from the prone supported position will not improve your performance but will limit the time available to shoot the course of fire
-
If you need advice or a spotter to help adjust your sights, please ask, there will be many people willing to help you
-
When shooting at Bisley the LPSC Chief Range Officer may require that a shooter attends the Bisley Zero Range prior to commencing or resuming shooting at the full range distance.
BUTT DUTY:
We operate the targetry ourselves on the Longmoor / Ash days and for some of the McQueens shoots at Bisley. This usually involves taking two turns in the butts during the day so if you can only make it for 1/2 a day we will make sure that you have a shoot but please ensure you take a turn in the butts as well.
